Trinity Outreach Ministries offers a shower for the Baobab Home!

Please help shower the Baobab Home, a project supported by Trinity Outreach Ministries. Judith Conley is part of a group traveling to Tanzania in May and will take much-needed supplies to our friend Terri Place to support the orphanage. Will you please help by purchasing items or donating funds (checks made payable to Trinity Cathedral, memo: Baobab Home) so Terri can buy local items or help us cover airline charges for the extra luggage? For more information see Judith, Pam Clark, or Mina Van Dyne after the service in the Olney Room.

Needs (in priority order):

For Babies: *Waterproof mattress covers and changing pads *Diaper pins or clips *Vinyl diaper covers, small and medium *Baby wash *Ipecac *Bouncy seat (note: these items are not available locally)

For Preschoolers/grade-school children: Books—avoid those that are too specific to American culture (Halloween, Thanksgiving) *Crayons *Coloring books and drawing paper *Triple antibiotic ointment containing Bacitracin *Kid's bubble bath *Lotion

Clothing (prewashed, if possible): *Long-sleeved, long-legged and footed lightweight pajamas for infants through 36 months. It is hot in Tanzania, but there are lots of mosquitoes. *Underwear for girls and boys sizes 2 to 4. Sandals for boys and girls aged 2 to 4 (No socks, please).

Other: Belts, watches, old CD players that would delight the teenagers

Where your treasure is, your heart will be also! What are you doing with your stimulus check? Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation reminds us that our society encourages consumption far beyond our actual needs. Some believe our government is encouraging us to consume even more by providing many of us with an "economic stimulus check." The MDG committee encourages us to chose compassion over consumption. Join the movement to give all or part of your stimulus check to support Millennium Development Goals. Find out how at www.giveit4good.org or make a donation of 100%, 10%, or 0.7% to your Trinity MDG committee. (Checks may be made payable to Trinity Cathedral, memo: MDG Fund)

Sts. Sergius & Bacchus Prayer Group: Prayer is just as important as any other form of activism. All are welcome to join the Sts. Sergius & Bacchus community for prayer and study on Sunday mornings. We pray Lauds (Monastic Morning Prayer) and occasionally also pray the Rosary. Join us 8:30 am on Sunday Morning in the Tea Room.

Business of God Luncheon Next Month: The next Business of God luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at All Saints’ (Central Avenue & Maryland). The doors open at 11:30 with lunch served at noon. Our speaker will be the Rev. Tex Sample, Former Academic Dean at Saint Paul School of Theology. The title of his presentation is: "Earthy Mysticism” - a discussion about God who shows up in unexpected places, unseemly situations, disreputable people and through various movements. The cost is $18, and checks may be made out to CDSP. E-mail martin@trinitycathedral.com  for a registration form.

Changing Table: Parents of our youngest members of our Cathedral Community will want to know that we have recently installed a wall-mounted baby changing table in the unisex handicap-accessible restroom in the northwest corner of the Olney Room. While the nursery will remain available for baby changing, please know that you are most welcome to use this area if it is more convenient for you.

The Cathedral Quilters: Are you a quilter or a person who wants to learn how to quilt? If you are, then The Cathedral Quilters might be the place and ministry for you! Our quilting guild will be creating healing and baptismal quilts for members of our Cathedral family. The patterns are easy and the fun guaranteed - No prior experience necessary! “The Cathedral Quilters” will be meeting on selected Saturdays in the Godly Play room. Bring a bag lunch; dessert and beverages will be provided. For further information or to sign up please contact Jeff Barrett at jeffbo1962@aol.com or call the church office and we will put you in touch with him.

Write to martin@trinitycathedral.com to have your E-mail address added to our mailing list if you'd like to get our newsletters in PDF version whenever we have a new issue.
