SPIRITUAL
FORMATION
Adults
- Seasonal programs are offered for adults on Sunday mornings at
9:00 AM or after the 10:00 AM service in the upstairs Auditorium and
include both topical and biblical studies. Education for Ministry (EFM)
groups are also available, which provide an intensive 4-year theological
education to lay persons. We
also have other social/educational groups for adults that meet on weekday
evenings for a few weeks at a time, usually focusing on a particular
theological, spiritual, or current events issue. Write to office@trinitycathedral.com
to find out more and visit the "What's New" link on the left for the
latest information.
Youth
- Cathedral teenagers are invited to take part in our Journey To Adulthood formation
program for young people ages 11
through 19. Call the Cathedral office
for more information on this fresh approach to youth spirituality.
We have graded programs for all of our young men and women that meet
following the 10 o’clock service each Sunday, September through May:
- Rite-13 For ages 11 through 13 meets upstairs in “A
Place Apart” meditation room
- J2A and Young Adults in Church For ages 13 through 19
meet in the Youth Room on the mezzanine level
Children
- A program using the Godly Play method is held for children
ages three to twelve on Sunday mornings (Fall through Spring) starting
at 10 o'clock in the first floor Godly Play Center. This schedule allows
parents and children to join
in worship at the Offertory, prior to the Liturgy of the Table.
Infants & Toddlers
- Childcare is available on Sunday mornings from 9:15
through the end of services in the Nursery (located on the first floor
next to the Godly Play center). An experienced caregiver is on hand to
care for the children.
If you are baptized, you are already a member of the Church,
the Body of Christ. Transfer of membership is as easy as having the date of your
baptism recorded in our membership records. Please contact Gary in the church
office (602) 254-7126 ext.302 or gary@trinitycathedral.com
.
However, it is expected that all adult members of The Episcopal
Church, after appropriate instruction, will have made a mature public
affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their
Baptism and will have been confirmed by a Bishop of this church or by a Bishop
of a Church in communion with this church.
If you are already a confirmed Episcopalian and wish to become
a confirmed communicant here, you should request a Canonical Letter of Transfer
from your former parish to Trinity Cathedral. Call our office and Gary Gorman,
our administrative assistant, will write a request for a transfer for you and
members of your family.
At Trinity Cathedral
we feel that church membership should not be complicated, but recognize that there are
different levels of commitment and participation among members. You
are considered a member of the Cathedral congregation if you:
1. Attend church regularly and
2. Contribute to the life and work of the Cathedral through your
time, talent and treasure.
To participate in the administrative life of the congregation by casting your vote at the Annual Meeting each January, you must also:
3. Be baptized and confirmed/received into the Episcopal Church and, if applicable,
4. Instruct the Cathedral staff to request your membership be transferred from another Episcopal Church.
FELLOWSHIP
Trinity Cathedral offers numerous programs including Sunday morning
forums, congregational meals, and special events. Watch the WHAT'S NEW
page, church bulletins, and newsletters for details. Joining one of the
Cathedral's outreach service groups is another great way to get
involved! Speak with a member of the Cathedral staff about some of our
ministry opportunities, or visit the Outreach page for ways to get in touch with
nonprofit organizations we work with closely.
PASTORAL SERVICES
The Samaritan Guild is a group of care advocates for your spiritual, emotional and supportive needs during times of illness or strife.
The Samaritan Guild is a ministry of caring and an additional resource for
parishioners at Trinity Cathedral and others in our community. Whether
there is an immediate crisis, a prayer request or the need for an in-home visit, members of the Samaritan Guild are prepared to assist you - or simply be a compassionate presence. Call the Cathedral Wellness Center at 602.254.7130 and your request will be directed immediately to a member of the Samaritan Guild.
During a time of crisis, illness, or need, members of our
clergy (priests and deacons) are always available to you. Please call the
Cathedral offices to arrange for a pastoral care visit: 602.254.7126 .
SACRAMENTS
A sacrament is a
ritual reenactment of a Christian belief. Through the sacraments, we are
open to receiving God's blessing upon the action we take, which is witnessed
by the Christian community. For any sacramental service, please call
the Cathedral office. Sacraments include:
The Holy Eucharist (holy communion); Baptism; Laying on of Hands (Confirmation, Reception & Reaffirmation); Reconciliation
(confession); Marriage; Ordination; and Last Rites (ministration at death, funerals and memorial services).
GUILDS
The medieval Cathedral
Guild was a group in which specific types of ministry could be explored
and exercised through apprenticeship: a craft or skill passed on from one
Guild member to another. At the center of all the Guilds is worship
- everything we attempt to do for God must come out of our Eucharistic life. A resurgence of this tradition began at Trinity Cathedral with the
formation of the following Guilds:
Worship (Altar Guild, Lectors, Chalice Bearers, Acolytes, Vergers, Crucifers), Hospitality (Ushers, Greeters, Culinary Guild, Docents), Arts (Arts volunteers, Cathedral Shoppe volunteers, Cathedral Musicians), Building & Grounds (Facilities, Gardening, History), Pastoral Care (Prayer Chain, Samaritan Guild, Lay Eucharistic Ministers)
Please do not hesitate to call the Cathedral Office for more information at

outreach groups and nonprofit organizations such as Phoenix Rescue Mission, Cathedral Health Services,

Humanity, Cathedral Center for the Arts, Project Angel Tree, and others. Call the office for more information on our
